Bengal tigers After a few years of displaying Sumatran tigers, the Montgomery Zoo has moved back to the much beloved and admired Bengal tigers. The two tigers, though very similar in age and size, are not siblings. Morte (orange) and Shanti (white) great additions to the Montgomery Zoo. Morte and Shanti can be viewed daily on exhibit in the Asian realm of the Montgomery Zoo.
In early summer 2014, the Montgomery Zoo added two new African lions. Buddy and Dash came to the Montgomery Zoo from Las Vegas, NV. Both are considered adolescents, young, full of energy and we all watching as they continue to grow larger and stronger. Their manes are growing and taking shape. Also, visit the exhibit daily at 1:30pm and watch the keepers lead the lions through a training session. The experience is fun, entertaining and educational for the guests, the keeper and the lions.
American Alligators The newest Montgomery Zoo animal exhibit opened on Aug 21, 2014. This new exhibit will house a varied aged and sized American alligators. The new exhibit is located behind the Black Bear habitat, directly on the Zoo lake. Guests will experience a one-of-a-kind view of these ancient reptiles. Boardwalks take guests down to the lakefront for an eye-to-eye encounter of the gators. The animals will live in a temperature controlled area and water keeping the gators on the move regardless of the season.
